Brian O'Neill

Artist Statement: "People often ask me how long I have been painting. The answer is always the same- my entire life. As I entered my late twenties it became very clear to me that I had a great deal to contribute to the world as a creative soul. This realization was the impetus for a path of discovery that proves to be more rewarding with every new endeavor. I enjoy working in a wide variety of media and styles. The unpredictability and spontaneous nature of watercolor is always a thrill. When working this way, I enjoy doing more figurative, abstract images. However, I have had great success using it to capture detail in imaginative ways.

Much like watercolor, I have experimented in oils, combining different techniques and moods. I have been greatly inspired by the often romantic, passionate, and illuminated works of the Pre-Raphaelite artists of the nineteenth century. This was a revolutionary movement that combined styles of the Old Italian Masters, illustrating biblical, mythological, and poetic themes. This greatly influenced me in my four paintings entitled "The Four Seasons of Life."

I like my paintings to tell a story and take the viewer into another world of fantasy and thought. I have a great love of design and interiors. I enjoy bringing my talent to the homes of my clients in the form of a mural, faux finish, hand painted furniture, or fine art. I look forward to continuing to explore myself as an artist in a changing world. I believe what I do is of great importance, and I am grateful for the opportunity to display these works and contribute a part of myself that can make a difference."
