Bernard de Hoog

Bernard de Hoog, Dutch painter (1866-1943). His works have been listed in The Darvish Collection,
Odon Wagner Gallery, and have been sold by Christies and Sotheby's at their Amsterdam offices.

His warmth, family scenes and display of light on his subjects in unparalled in the works of his contemporaries. They invoke a nostalgic feeling of home and hearth and daily life in the Netherlands.His cottage interiors with mother and children are very much in the Hague tradition. He studied and worked in Amsterdam until 1899, then worked in Lauren from 1903 to 1924. He also lived in Bussum before moving to The Hague, where he died in 1943.
